The rights in the material, and the source behind them
Every quotation on this site is a link rather than a copy, and every one carries the session and the rights holder. That is a decision about authority at least as much as it is about permission. Here is what the rights say, what the material says about being a source, and the one place where the two touch that has not been settled.

I want to begin with bookkeeping that is really argument.
Every verbatim sentence from the Ra material published on this site lives in one file. The essays hold an identifier, which resolves to a record carrying the exact text, the speaker, the session and question, a link to that session on lawofone.info where anyone can check it, and the date on which a person last read those words against the source. This is the page that explains the rule, so it had better obey it. Eight passages below are quoted through those records. Everything else is paraphrased in my own words, including the places where I think the material is making a mistake.

What the rights actually say
The rights are held by L/L Research of Louisville, Kentucky, and the position is reported wrongly often enough to be worth stating precisely.
The copyright policy, read at https://www.llresearch.org/copyright on 27 September 2026, says the material is freely available and is not in the public domain, and that L/L Research retains all rights to what it publishes, including books, transcripts, audio, video and photographs. Free to read and free to download is not free to take, and that difference is the whole of the rights position.
With proper attribution a reader may share excerpts, generally no more than a few paragraphs, or link to the material; incorporate limited portions into artistic work; and study, explore, write about, and quote from the material. Anything beyond that needs written permission, and the permission carries conditions.
Two of those conditions are this library’s own rules from before we wrote them. A project must be positively oriented and carry no intent to manipulate, deceive or exploit. And quotes must not be altered in a way that changes meaning, and new material must not be presented as if it were channeled by L/L Research. Set the second beside a rule that looks like a house style choice and you can see it is not one. A single file for all quotations, and a standing requirement to say which layer a sentence speaks from, are the same requirement reached from two directions. Do not alter. Do not impersonate. The attribution the policy asks for is title, year, L/L Research with its location, a link, and a page number where relevant.
None of this is legal advice. It is a report of what a published page says, on a date, so a reader with a project in hand knows what to read and whom to ask.
Why we quote instead of reproducing
Copyright is the floor under this decision, not the reason. Suppose the material had no rights holder at all. The argument would be unchanged, and that is the test.
When a secondary text reproduces a source’s words at length, the reader’s relationship is quietly relocated. The words are still credited accurately, but the reader is now reading a source somebody else selected, excerpted and arranged, and the only road back to the primary text is a promise rather than a link. Quote a passage, link the session, and the reader can end the relationship with us at any moment.
The material holds a view about this, and holds it about itself.
It is important to allow each seeker to enlighten itself rather than for any messenger to attempt in language to teach/learn for the entity, thus being teach/learner and learn/teacher.
A messenger that takes over the entity’s own process has not helped it. A library that reproduces a source at length puts itself where the material is warning, standing between the reader and the source. The same answer ranks the information below the being: asked what service consists in, the material puts a person’s own realisation of oneness with the Creator first and the information it shares second.
It is impossible to help another being directly. It is only possible to make catalyst available in whatever form, the most important being the radiation of realization of oneness with the Creator from the self, less important being information such as we share with you.
So the material does not place itself first in its own account of what helps, and a secondary text that makes itself the destination has inverted a ranking the source supplied.
I will not suggest the proper series of questions. This is your prerogative as free agent of the Law of One having learn/understood that our social memory complex cannot effectually discern the distortions of the societal mind/body/spirit complex of your peoples.
The reason given is not taste and not modesty. It is a boundary on what that form of mind can perceive from inside its own situation.
The material’s own account of giving
The part of the corpus that settles this for me is not about service in the abstract. It is about gifts, and it is unusually uncomfortable.
Asked why a pyramid was built from many blocks rather than as one piece, the material answers at 3.14 that it did not want the mystery penetrated in a way that would leave its builders worshipped as builders. A gift made deliberately obscure, so the giver would not become an object of devotion. That is the argument for linking rather than reproducing, made by the source about itself, and it is not a copyright argument at all.
At 57.17 the material says it once gave a powerful configuration naively, watched its use distorted and its teachings lost, and found the peoples not then oriented enough toward purity to be given it again. It declines to give, and it admits having been burned by giving.
At 60.8 the material describes an instrument who had to learn to accept the gifts of others after a life of radiating acceptance and love without expecting anything back, and found it uncomfortable. The hard part is not suspicion. It is that accepting a gift means giving up the position of the person who gives.
The same restraint governs the material’s own speech. Asked to go further, it stops and recommends the student’s own observations instead.
You must realize that we offered these concepts to you so that you might grow in your own knowledge of the self through the consideration of them. We would prefer, especially for this latter query, to listen to the observations upon this subject which the student of these exercises may make and then suggest further avenues of the refinement of these inquiries. We feel we might be of more aid in this way.
A source declining to continue, and saying the student’s own observations would be of more use than more of its own speech. At 23.6 the material withdrew from an attempt to walk among peoples because thirty impressions of being for every word spoken had confused those it came to serve. The form of the transmission failed, not the words.
The healer acts as energizer or catalyst for this completely individual process.
The gate, and why it is not a formality
The material makes two statements about its own reliability, and the first is that it may misperceive a query.
We may have misperceived your query. We were under the distortion/impression that we had responded to this particular query. Would you restate the query?
And asked whether a contact can be sustained, it says that if a distortion is left too long the contact will be gradually impaired.
Do not concern yourselves overly with this in the space/time nexus present, but do not allow these distortions to remain over a long period or the contact will be gradually impaired.
A source that says this about itself cannot be quoted on trust, and neither can a transcript of it. A reader who takes a sentence out of a channel that has announced it may have misheard, and has no way of knowing which sentence is affected. So the date on each record is not metadata. It is the finding. Nothing in our tooling computes it, and that is deliberate. A hash would prove only that a file had not changed, which is not the claim. The claim is that a person read the words against the session.
And what a record may not become. Not this library as the source a sentence is traced to, and not a claim of authority. At 60.16 the material positions its own work as removing distortions a particular shape has caused in people’s thinking, which is the whole of what a careful intermediary can honestly say it is doing with somebody else’s words.
It is our honor/duty to attempt to remove the distortions that the use of this shape has caused in the thinking of your peoples and in the activities of some of your entities.
The tradition this inherits, and the limit of that map
The Buddhist account of transmission, on its own terms, treats the receiving side as part of what gets transmitted, and a teaching delivered where it will be misheard is a distortion rather than a gift. That is a structural claim, not a courtesy, and it is the claim the material makes about the pyramid. It also has a limit. That account is about realisation and the stages of a path, and it settles nothing about which published version of a session you are quoting, whether a hyperlink is adequate attribution, or what a search index over a corpus is. We answer the rest from the publisher’s terms.
The part that is not settled
Here is the item I am not going to dress up.
The policy has a section on use of L/L Research material in AI systems. In it, the direct storage, indexing, or retrieval of that content, whether in vector databases, embedding stores, retrieval pipelines, or comparable retrieval infrastructure, is stated to constitute reproduction and to require written permission. The page says this applies to the full corpus as well as to excerpts, regardless of whether a tool is open source or locally hosted, and asks that anyone intending such a system get in touch first.
This library has built that. There is an inverted index and per-session passage files built at build time from the 106 sessions, and a second index over some fifteen hundred and forty transcripts from the channeling library at llresearch.org, both served to the study companion so that asking a question of the material does not put a request on somebody else’s server on every turn. It was built for a real reason: it removed a per-question outbound request from a tool many people use.
The reason does not matter to the term. Quoting is not where our exposure lies. The index is. This library has not sought written permission, and it has not established that either index is covered by the permission the policy describes. The harder question belongs to the owner to take to the publisher, not to an essay to settle.
To a reader in the same position: read the policy yourself, and contact them before you build the layer. They ask for it, and it is a letter rather than a lawsuit.
Two things a reader needs and gets nowhere else
The sessions exist in more than one published version and those differ, so a reader checking one of our quotations against another version may find the wording moved.
And one instruction, which is the argument of this page in a single line. If you are citing something here, link the session on lawofone.info rather than linking us. It costs you nothing, it keeps the reader in a relationship with the source, and it is the only sentence here that will still be true in fifty years.
