Why the material stopped

Every newcomer asks it and most libraries route around it — why did it stop? The corpus gives a reason, and the reason turns out to be the strongest thing in the transcripts for reading the rest of them.

Ask it plainly, because the plain form is the honest one. Why did it stop? A contact that ran for a handful of years and then ended, with no continuation and no successor, invites the obvious story. The people lost it. The entity withdrew. Somebody up there simply stopped answering. Each shares one premise, and it is the thing under examination: the contact was meant to run indefinitely and was cut short.

The transcripts do not say that, and this library is not going to ask a reader to suspend judgement about its own material on a matter this checkable. The arrangement described its own end before it reached one.

The arrangement wrote its own expiry

In the twelfth session, asked about keeping something in place over a long period, the material answers about the contact itself. It says not to leave those distortions standing indefinitely, or the contact will be gradually impaired.

Do not concern yourselves overly with this in the space/time nexus present, but do not allow these distortions to remain over a long period or the contact will be gradually impaired.

Read that as what it is. A clause about the integrity of the channel, stated early, with no alarm in it. Not a warning about the reader’s conduct, not a prophecy of failure. A term. An arrangement carrying a decay clause in its first dozen sessions is an arrangement with a lifespan, and a lifespan named in advance is not the same event as one that ran out.

The same clause is the practical reason the later sessions read as they do, and our method note on reading a transcript takes it up from that side. A channel that answers well early and badly late is a fact about the channel, and this one records it.

The horizon was the reader’s, not the calendar

The second thing that argues for a designed end is that the material never gives the window a length. Asked directly about when, it declines the shape of the question. The questioner wants to know whether a long project is worth starting, and the answer is that the horizon is not the variable.

The harvest is now. There is not at this time any reason to include efforts along these distortions towards longevity, but rather to encourage distortions toward seeking the heart of self, for this which resides clearly in the violet-ray energy field will determine the harvesting of each mind/body/spirit complex.

Ra, session 14.14 · read it at the source

Read what that is doing. What determines the outcome is what has become of the person, and the material says that much is legible. The timing of such a window is a property of the people inside it rather than a date on a calendar — and a property of that kind arrives and is gone. It does not need defending afterwards with a schedule.

Asked again, the answer is a hedge, and the hedge is the shape of the claim rather than a retreat from it.

This is an approximation. We have stated we have difficulty with your time/space. This is an appropriate probable/possible time/space nexus for harvest. Those who are not in incarnation at this time will be included in the harvest.

Three qualifications in three sentences, from a source otherwise willing to state cosmology in the indicative. Our essay on dated accounts argues the first half of that reading, which is that a probable nexus has no last date. This essay argues the second half. An instrument that reports its own answer as an approximation is not being careful. It is telling you what kind of thing you are holding, and a reader treating this one as an oracle skipped that part of the label.

A ruled horizontal line with tick marks crosses the figure and then stops at a single vertical stroke, because the shape being drawn is the shape of a bounded contact and not the shape of an interruption. Above the line are the four conditions the material itself names as the reason a window of this kind could be gathered at all: the harvest is now, what the violet ray can read is what a person has become, the timing is a probable nexus rather than a date, and a contact left in place too long is gradually impaired. Below the line is what the bound licenses: a question that is asked is answered, with the asking left to the asker, and struck through on its own row the ordering of those questions, which is the asker's to choose. At the right-hand end stands the single vertical stroke, and beneath it the material's own reasoning for the ending, that each seeker is to be left to enlighten itself. Nothing is drawn past the stroke, and that absence is the argument: what would have been said in a longer span is not shown because the corpus does not show it, and this library does not draw a line the source did not draw.

That is the whole geometry, and the point of it is the bit on the right. The line is ruled, it is ticked, and it stops.

The last refusal is the first refusal

What the closing move actually looked like is worth naming, because it is the same move the material makes throughout, and a reader hunting for evidence of interruption will not find it there.

Asked directly for the structure and contents of the archetypal mind, in one of the closing stretches of the sessions, the answer declines. And then it gives the reason, and the reason is not a wall.

You must realize that we offered these concepts to you so that you might grow in your own knowledge of the self through the consideration of them. We would prefer, especially for this latter query, to listen to the observations upon this subject which the student of these exercises may make and then suggest further avenues of the refinement of these inquiries. We feel we might be of more aid in this way.

Read the closing sentence. The material does not withdraw. It changes what it would be useful for, and it hands the inquiry back to the person who asked it. That is what the end of a contact looks like from inside the material’s own grammar. A reason given, and then the question returned to whoever asked.

The reason was there from the beginning

The reasoning is not new at the end. It is stated in the third session, and it is a statement about free agency rather than about availability.

I will not suggest the proper series of questions. This is your prerogative as free agent of the Law of One having learn/understood that our social memory complex cannot effectually discern the distortions of the societal mind/body/spirit complex of your peoples.

Ra, session 3.6 · read it at the source

Two claims in one sentence. The questions belong to a free agent, and the one answering cannot choose them, because it cannot see the distortions in the minds it would be choosing for. Then, in the fifteenth session, the same principle applied to the most tempting thing a contact could hand over.

It is important to allow each seeker to enlighten itself rather than for any messenger to attempt in language to teach/learn for the entity, thus being teach/learner and learn/teacher.

Ra, session 15.13 · read it at the source

An exchange in which the messenger teaches in place of the seeker is not a transmission. It is a substitution, and it removes the very faculty the whole arrangement exists to develop. A method that ends by declining to replace its own purpose is not a method that failed. It is the only kind of method that can be honest about what it is for.

So the silences are fit, not oversight

This is where the argument has to earn something, because a reader has noticed that these transcripts have a great many unanswered questions in them.

If the contact was bounded by its own account, then the questions it did not take were declined for a reason, and the reason was fit. Not ignorance, not evasion. The thin answers are thin in a specific direction, and it is the direction of questions the seeker would have to ask for them to carry anything. A reader treating an unanswered question as a gap for another book to fill has been misreading the shape of the instrument.

There is a second reason the boundary shows up as it does, and the material states it when it states what it is. Its own definition of the Law is offered as something statable approximately, and the word it reaches for is the right one.

The Law of One, though beyond the limitations of name, as you call vibratory sound complexes, may be approximated by stating that all things are one, that there is no polarity, no right or wrong, no disharmony, but only identity.

Ra, session 4.20 · read it at the source

Keep the hedge, because it is the whole claim. A material that cannot be put into words exactly is not a material that can be asked anything at all, and the difference between those two things is the difference between an oracle and an instrument.

A bound has a middle, and the middle is not crossed

A limit is not a ramp. The material is unusually clear about where its own reach stops, and it is not the far end of the spectrum. It is a hole in the middle.

To attain fifty-one percent dedication to the welfare of other-selves is as difficult as attaining a grade of five percent dedication to other-selves. The, shall we say, sinkhole of indifference is between those two.

Ra, session 17.33 · read it at the source

Two poles, and a sinkhole between them. Both ends are addressed; the uncommitted middle is the condition the material names as the risk. A bounded contact has that geometry too. It is not waiting for the reader to become more advanced. It is addressed to a particular kind of person, and no quantity of sincerity in the middle produces an answer.

Catalyst, not supply

There is a word the material uses for what it was doing, and it settles a question newcomers rarely ask out loud, which is whether this is a supply.

It is impossible to help another being directly. It is only possible to make catalyst available in whatever form, the most important being the radiation of realization of oneness with the Creator from the self, less important being information such as we share with you.

Ra, session 17.2 · read it at the source

It is not. What the contact offers is catalyst, and the direct help it says it cannot offer. A channel making catalyst available has a shape, and the shape includes an end. It is not a tap left running. An instrument left running indefinitely stops being an instrument and becomes an authority, which is the substitution the material refused twice.

What the corpus does not say

This section keeps the essay honest, and we are not going to skip it.

The corpus does not say when the contact ended, on what day, or by whose decision. It does not say why that length and not another. It does not say what the founders of the group intended, commercially or otherwise, and this library will not supply an answer from outside the transcripts. It does not say what would have been asked in a longer span, or whether anyone wanted one. Those are real questions and a reader is entitled to hold us to them.

What the corpus does give is a reason, and the reason is not about the channel’s willingness. It is about the seeker’s own enlightenment, and about the limits of what one that cannot discern a societal mind’s distortions can properly do on a reader’s behalf. The silence sits where we would expect the silence to sit, and where the source has nothing we do not fill in.

The ending is the key

Here is the landing, and it is not sentimental.

A material that describes itself as a limited, temporary, harvest-oriented contact, gathered while the conditions allowed and released afterwards, is making a claim about its own reliability. It is saying read me as an instrument with a range. And the strongest evidence for that claim is not a sentence anywhere inside the material. It is that the contact ended, on a reason it had given in advance.

So the ending is not a loss. It is the key, and the first lock it opens is the reading of everything before it. The hedges are the shape of a temporary instrument. The silences are fit. The last refusal is the first refusal, still being applied. And a reader who takes this material as permanent, exhaustive and answering anything has not disagreed with it. They have misread it at the root, and anything they build on that will be built on a longer line than the one that was drawn.
